Last month, we carried out our first mechanical tests on a 1/3-scale section of pipe.
Our experimental method, inspired by NASA studies, enables us to apply a flexion to the pipe similar to that which it would undergo at sea.
🎞️ On the left of the video, the section of pipe is bent by a piston resting on a loading arm. On the right, sensors measure the force applied and the resulting deformations in real time. The measurements taken and the phenomena observed are being used to improve and recalibrate our numerical and analytical models.
🇷🇪 This was an operation made in Reunion Island, with design taking place in Laboratoire ENERGY-Lab in Saint-Denis, construction in Le Port (https://www.facebook.com/latelierdumetallier/) and testing at the IUT de La Réunion in Saint-Pierre.
Thanks to ADEME for financing these tests.
